?uestlove will make musical history during PIFA Sunday, April 17th at 8 pm. Of all of the live musical performances of ?uestlove of The Root that I’ve enjoyed I can guarantee April 17th at the Kimmel Center will be a one-of-a -kind-experience during PIFA! He will take the stage for the first time with an international artist, Keren Ann. This is a one-night-only performance specifically planned for PIFA, so don’t wait too long to buy your tickets in case it sells out!
?uestlove is the drummer of The Roots, Philadelphia-based hip-hop band. They are a very unique band in the hip-hop genre because they play all of their own instruments including even a tuba. You can hear ?uestlove nightly on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon because The Roots is the show's house band.
I have seen ?uestlove perform with The Roots on several occasions including at The Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, New York City at the 2009 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and most recently last summer at the Independence Day concert in Philadelphia.
The first time that I saw The Roots perform was at The Borgata Casino two summers ago but I fell in love with their underground hip-hop music long before they were making headlines. In high school I borrowed a friend’s copy of The Roots, Things Fall Apart CD and well, I liked it so much that I ended up claiming the CD as my own. I played that CD until it was so scratched up not a complete song was audible anymore. Thanks for iTunes I don’t have to worry about that!
Last year I got see ?uestlove perform again with The Roots at a free concert in Philly for 4th of July’s Wawa Welcome America event. The crowd was so energetic and Philadelphia was proud to have a local band play alongside headliner Goo Goo Dolls.
Don’t forget to buy your tickets NOW for ?uestloves PIFA concert at the Kimmel Center on April 17th because you won’t want to miss this plus there are surprise guests planned to join them on stage. See you there!
Stay tuned for more PIFA sneak peak events. It will be coming to Philadelphia April 7th – May 1st. This post was written with the support of PIFA.
