Viva Mexico : Mexican Independence Day & National Guacamole Day
Today, September
16th is Mexican Independence Day! (no , it’s not on Cinco de Mayo) The Mexican War of Independence began on September 16, 1810 and that is why it is celebrated today.
Did you know
that in the US today is coincidentally National Guacamole Day? Of course us
Americans always like an excuse for a fiesta! Try one of my favorite recipes perfect
for any party.
Ingredients
- 3 avocados – peeled, pitted, and mashed
- 1 red onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbs. cilantro, chopped
- 2 roma tomatoes, seeded and chopped
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 glove of garlic (minced)
- 3 drops hot pepper sauce (optional)
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions
In a medium bowl, mix avocados, red
onion, cilantro, garlic, roma tomatoes, and lime juice. Season with hot pepper sauce, and
salt and pepper to taste. Cover, and refrigerate at least 45 minutes before
serving with tortilla chips. Enjoy!
