Square Peg: Happy Hour Hot Spot

If you haven’t been to Square Peg yet you are missing out! The modern Americana restaurant is an excellent choice for happy hour, dinner or brunch in the theater district of Philadelphia! Square Peg is located at 10th and Walnut Streets making it a very convenient location. With the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA) in full swing there are countless reasons to stop by for a bite to eat or drink before a show at one of the nearby theaters or visiting the Kimmel Center’s Time Travel Plaza.

The artwork is all customized and some photographs even feature their staff in the Prohibition Room upstairs’. It can be set up for a private party room. There is also a ‘rosy the riveter’ wall of artwork. Walking around Square Peg is like walking through different eras in American history. All of the artwork in the restaurant is customized and some even feature their staff! ‘Prohibition room upstairs’ and the ‘rosy the riveter’ wall of artwork are original pieces for Square Peg. This is a perfect meeting spot for friends before heading to PIFA 2013's Time Machine at The Kimmel Center's lobby.

The bartenders are all very friendly and very knowledgeable about drink suggestions. They recommend the Jefferson Experiment for 'non-gin drinkers' as in introduction to drink gin. It was so good and I usually don't drink gin. The tang from the grapefruit and lemon juice add a perfect citrus twist to it.

Pictured below are some selections from the menu; Kimchee Fries with Siracha Maya, Mac & Cheese "Grilled Cheese" served with drunken tomato soup, General Tso Lettuce Wrap, Mini Salisbury Steak Taster, Mini Chorizo Pambazo,

Square Peg offers more than just fabulous cocktails, their food menu is full of tasty choices.  The concept of the menu is similar to a diner in the sense that you can or order either Lunch or Dinner menu at the same. Mac and Cheese Grilled Cheese is one of their signature dishes that you need to try! It is so cheesy and grilled to perfection paired with a cup of drunken tomato soup. My favorite thing was the General Tso Lettuce Wrap Bite. It was served with black rice known as the ‘forbidden rice’ as the bartender explained as serving it to me. The service was very friendly. It's only $2 for one order of the wrap bite.  I can’t wait to go back soon for another happy hour!
